CytatTatsunari Ota - There Is A Stone
Thien An Pham - Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell
Malene Choi Jensen - The Quiet Migration
Jafar Panahi - No Bears
Lisandro Alonso - Eureka
Diego Llorente - Notes on a Summer
Ji Huang & Ryuji Otsuka - Stonewalling
Peter Strickland - Flux Gourmet
Sang-soo Hong - In Water
Albert Serra - Pacifiction
Angela Schanelec - Music
Yoshida Keisuke - Blue oraz Intolerance
Masz 13 🙂
Sono Sion - Red Post on Escher Street
Edwin - Vengeance is Mine, All Others Pay Cash
I trochę bardziej rozrywkowo dla równych 15.
A jeszcze przecież Kogonada ostatni, Memoria przecież była...
Można bez końca.
A, Monica Sorelle - Mountains
Amerykański 🙂
Denis Cote - That Kind of Summer (niebywale empatyczny film)
Rita Azevedo Gomes - The Kegelstatt Trio (TA reżyserka i adaptacja sztuki Rohmera = arcydzieło)
Mitra Farahani - See You Friday, Robinson
Jeong-hong Lee - A Wild Roomer (miażdżąco dobry debiut, z nutką podobnego wyczucia relacji międzyludzkich, co w There Is A Stone i np. u wczesnej Justine Triet)
No i jest 25

Q__
Co o nim sądzisz, @such?
such
Przepaplany, i w zasadzie przez to zrujnowany. Od samego początku prowadzi widza za rączkę.
Ogólnie rzecz biorąc nie rozumiem zachwytów.
Czysty brutalizm w scenariuszu ;)
Proces kreatywny to decyzje.

such
RedHatMeg
No weź, są tam jednak fajne filmy.
such
such
Q__
Nolan jest przeraklamowany aż boli, to fakt ;).
RedHatMeg
Raging Bull mnie zastanawia.
such
Jeden z jego lepszych, ale gdybym miał wybierać to tylko najlepszy, czyli The Age of Innocence.
Film jak zimny skalpel.
Z innych amerykańskich np. Opening Night.
Days of Heaven?
Outrage i The Bigamist Idy Lupino.
Swoją drogą te dwa filmy Idy Lupino to trochę podobna energia do sequela Cat People Vala Lewtona. Ten film też jest z innej planety, zwłaszcza w kontekście tzw. "jedynki."
Trouble in Paradise koniecznie.
Nashville.
Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.
3 Women, nawet A Prairie Home Companion bym wrzucił.
No, to jakieś tam moje amerykańskie typy.
It's Such a Beautiful Day też niech będzie. Raz go oglądałem, drugi nie dałbym rady.
In A Lonely Place.
A, The Magnificent Ambersons. Nawet w tym stanie.
A gdyby się kiedyś znalazła finałowa 1/3...
Itd, itp

Z rozmów z AI:
compare - Thw Promised Land by Andrzej Wajda, The Age of Innocence by Martin Scorsese and The Leopard by Visconti
An Analysis of "The Promised Land" (Andrzej Wajda, 1975), "The Age of Innocence" (Martin Scorsese, 1993), and "The Leopard" (Il Gattopardo, Luchino Visconti, 1963) reveals three cinematic masterpieces that chronicle the decline of old social orders and the turbulent rise of modernity.
While coming from different cinematic traditions (Polish Cinema of Moral Anxiety/Epic, New Hollywood, and Italian Neorealism/Operatic Epic), all three directors use lush, period-accurate aesthetics to dissect how economic shifts transform human relationships, morality, and class structures.
------------------------------
## Core Themes & Historical Context
* The Promised Land (Ziemia obiecana): Set in late 19th-century Łódź, it captures the brutal explosion of industrial capitalism. Wajda focuses on the raw, unbridled energy of greed, where Polish, Jewish, and German entrepreneurs strip away their humanity and cultural roots to build fortunes in the textile industry.
* The Age of Innocence: Set in 1870s New York, it explores the rigid social codes of the Gilded Age aristocracy. Scorsese examines a tribal society that uses exquisite manners, opera nights, and dinner parties as weapons to ruthlessly crush individual desire and maintain the status quo against the threat of new money and scandal.
* The Leopard (Il Gattopardo): Set during the 1860s Risorgimento (Italian unification) in Sicily, it portrays the melancholic decay of the feudal aristocracy yielding to the ambitious, vulgar bourgeoisie. Visconti famously encapsulates this transition with the line: "If we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change."
------------------------------
## Comparative Overview
The table below highlights how each film approaches the friction between the old world and the new:
| Feature | The Promised Land (Wajda) | The Age of Innocence (Scorsese) | The Leopard (Visconti) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rising Social Class | The ruthless, industrial bourgeoisie (factory owners). | The unseen but encroaching "new money" tycoons. | The opportunistic, wealthy middle class (bureaucrats). |
| The Cost of Progress | Total loss of morality, human empathy, and tradition. | Psychological repression and the death of genuine love. | The dilution of nobility and compromise of ideals. |
| Visual Style | Hyper-realistic, chaotic, grotesque, and sweat-soaked. | Sumptuous, claustrophobic, detailed, and hyper-controlled. | Operatic, elegiac, grand, and painterly. |
| Tone | Aggressive, cynical, and highly energetic. | Restrained, deeply ironic, and heartbreaking. | Nostalgic, weary, and philosophical. |
------------------------------
## Cinematic Style and Visual Metaphors## The Industrial Beast vs. The Gilded Cage vs. The Sun-Drenched Palace
Wajda uses frenetic camera movements, harsh lighting, and grotesque imagery to make the factories of Łódź feel like living monsters consuming the workers. Human flesh is literally and figuratively chewed up by machinery.
Scorsese shifts away from his usual gritty street violence to focus on societal violence. He treats the food, fabrics, and flower arrangements with fetishistic detail. The camera moves like a predator through lavish drawing-rooms, emphasizing that these beautiful spaces are actually a gilded cage for the protagonist, Newland Archer.
Visconti, an aristocrat himself, brings unparalleled authenticity to The Leopard. The film culminates in a legendary 45-minute ballroom scene that serves as a visual metaphor for the death of an era. The sweat on the faces of the dancers, the dust settling on the gold leaf, and the fading light all signal the unavoidable twilight of the nobility.
------------------------------
## The Protagonists and Their Fates
The central characters react differently to the changing tides of history:
* Karol Borowiecki (The Promised Land) completely renounces his noble Polish heritage and his conscience. He marries for money, abandons his morals, and successfully transforms into a soulless industrial tycoon.
* Newland Archer (The Age of Innocence) chooses duty over passion. He surrenders to the tribal demands of New York high society, burying his love for Countess Olenska to live a safe, respectable, but ultimately unfulfilled life.
* Don Fabrizio Corbera, Prince of Salina (The Leopard) watches the decline of his class with dignified resignation. He refuses to fight the future, instead facilitating a marriage between his penniless, aristocratic nephew Tancredi and Angelica, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy, boorish merchant, ensuring his family's survival at the cost of its pride.

similiar pictures?
The visual aesthetic of these three films relies heavily on meticulous period detail, striking social contrasts, and lavish costumes that mirror the internal state of their characters.
The imagery below highlights how each director brought the 19th-century transition to life:
## [The Promised Land](https://www.google.com/search?q=the+promised+land&kgmid=/m/05zqtz) (1975)
Andrzej Wajda captures the raw, gritty energy of industrialization. The characters' opulent formal attire constantly contrasts with the soot and machinery of the Łódź textile mills, creating a look that is both grand and grotesque.
## [The Age of Innocence](https://www.google.com/search?q=the+age+of+innocence&kgmid=/m/0f858v) (1993)
Martin Scorsese treats 1870s New York like a painting. Every frame is highly controlled and saturated, with the camera capturing the lavish fabrics, strict social rituals, and intense psychological longing hidden beneath polite society.
## [The Leopard](https://www.google.com/search?q=the+leopard&kgmid=/m/0c3vns) (1963)
Luchino Visconti uses a sun-drenched, operatic, and painterly lens to document the slow fade of the Sicilian aristocracy. The legendary ballroom sequences showcase massive, sweeping crowds in heavy silks and formal tailcoats, visualizing the twilight of a social class.
Would you like to see visual comparisons from other period epics with a similar style, such as Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon or Roman Polanski's Tess?
another pictures similiar to three mentioned
If you appreciate the grand operatic staging, intricate 19th-century period detail, and themes of societal decay found in The Promised Land, The Age of Innocence, and [The Leopard](https://www.google.com/search?q=the+leopard&kgmid=/m/0c3vns), several other cinematic masterworks share this identical visual DNA:
## [Barry Lyndon](https://www.google.com/search?q=barry+lyndon&kgmid=/m/01c9d) (1975) — Directed by Stanley Kubrick
Stanley Kubrick's legendary period epic famously used no artificial light for indoor scenes, relying entirely on candlelight and custom lenses developed by NASA. The resulting imagery mimics 18th-century oil paintings, tracking a ruthless social climber's rise and tragic fall through a cold, hyper-formal aristocratic world.
## [Tess](https://www.google.com/search?q=tess&kgmid=/m/0qmfk) (1979) — Directed by Roman Polanski
Based on Thomas Hardy's Victorian novel, this film features breathtaking, naturalistic cinematography that captures the landscape of late-19th-century rural England. It visually contrasts the pristine, soft textures of youth and nature against the rigid, hypocritical societal structures that destroy the protagonist.
## [Senso](https://www.google.com/search?q=senso&kgmid=/m/02qnqds) (1954) — Directed by Luchino Visconti
Before making The Leopard, Visconti directed this ultra-melodramatic, Technicolor masterpiece set during the Italian Risorgimento. The imagery is operatic and heavy with romantic dread, utilizing massive battle staging, elaborate Venetian opera houses, and lavish palatial settings to frame a tragic, politically charged affair.
## [The Innocent](https://www.google.com/search?q=the+innocent&kgmid=/m/02qn_0v) (1976) — Directed by Luchino Visconti
Visconti's final film is a highly tailored, deeply claustrophobic look into the late-19th-century Italian aristocracy. The costume design and interior sets are suffocatingly ornate, mirroring a toxic psychological drama where aristocratic manners mask dark obsession and moral collapse.
Would you like to analyze how costume design functions as storytelling in these films, or would you prefer a recommendation based on a specific historical setting (such as the Victorian Era vs. the French Revolution)?
and tv series?
If you want to experience this exact visual formula—lush 19th-century period detail, massive class divides, and the painful death of an old social order—in a long-form television format, these highly acclaimed series capture that identical cinematic DNA:
## 1900 Island (2019) / Reconstruction-Era Epics
While reality-adjacent experiments exist, the gold standard for the ruthless, grime-and-gold aesthetic of Wajda's The Promised Land is best found in series like The Gilded Age and The Mill. They perfectly capture the violent friction between old money and industrialization.
## The Gilded Age (2022–present) — Created by Julian Fellowes
This series is the closest television equivalent to Scorsese's The Age of Innocence. Set in 1880s New York City, it documents the brutal social warfare between the established, rigid "Old Money" aristocracy (living in traditional brownstones) and the aggressive, ultra-wealthy "New Money" railway tycoons building massive châteaux on Fifth Avenue.

## War and Peace (2016) — BBC Miniseries
Directed by Tom Harper, this adaptation matches the operatic, grand aristocratic decay of Visconti's The Leopard. Set against Napoleon's invasion of Russia, it features stunning, massive ballroom sequences, sprawling estates, and visually tracks the psychological erosion of a wealthy ruling class watching their world burn around them.

## Parade's End (2012) — BBC / HBO Miniseries
Written by Tom Stoppard and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, this miniseries functions as a spiritual sequel to The Age of Innocence. It features highly controlled, painterly framing to tell the story of a rigid English aristocrat trapped in a suffocating marriage. It visually documents the literal destruction of Edwardian high society as it collides head-first with the chaos of World War I.

## North & South (2004) — BBC Miniseries
This celebrated adaptation offers the ultimate visual split matching The Promised Land. It starkly juxtaposes the opulent, polite drawing rooms of southern England with the harsh, snow-like cotton soot, roaring machinery, and aggressive strikes of a northern industrial mill town.
